OPERaTiOn Thesebrakesarespringset,withelectrical(ic)release.Theycontainarotatingfrictiondiscthatisdrivenbyahubmountedonthemotorshaft.Whenenergized,thepressesthetorquesprings,removingtheforceonthediscs,andpermittingfreerotationoftheshaft. WaRning:Observepropersafetyprecautionsinapplicationswhereabrakefailurewouldallowtheloadtomoveinsuchamannerastoinjurepersonnel.KEEPPERSOnnELaWaYFROMLOaDaREaS.Ifbraketorqueratingishigherthanmotorfull-loadtorquerating,usebrakeratingratherthanmotorratingwhenselectingotherponents.Takethefollowingprecautionswhenoperatingthebrake:
1.Donotoperatethebrakeathigherthannominalstatic torquecapacity.2.Forapplicationswithhighinertia-typeloadsorrapid cycling,thethermalcapacityofthebrakemustbeconsidered.3.Highratesmaydamagemotor.Consultmotormanufacturerifhighcyclingratesareexpected.4.Besurepowersupplyconformstoelectricalratingofbrake. ManualRelease Thebrakeisequippedwithamanualrelease.Turnthereleaseknob(15)clockwisetopositiontoreleasethebrake.Usecautionwhenturningreleaseasexcessivetorquecandamagetherelease.Useofahand-heldnutdriverismended.Thebrakewillremainreleaseduntilthereleaseknobisturnedcounterclockwise(approx.65o)oruntilthebrakecoilisenergized,automaticallyresettingthebrake.
