QualificationsRequired:
•Ph.D.inIndustrialEngineering/OperationsResearchorrelatedfield•Strongbackgroundinoptimization(especiallyinmixed-integerlinearprogramming)•Extensiveexperiencewithoneoftheprogramminglanguages•ExtensiveexperiencewithoneoftheMIPsolvers
Preferred:
•Backgroundinmixed-integernonlinearprogramming•Backgroundinstochasticprogramming•ExperiencewithPython•ExperiencewithGurobi,BARON,IPOPT,MOSEK
ProjectBackgroundTheprojectisconcernedwithlarge-scaleoptimizationproblemsinvolvingmatrixmultiplication.Thisgeneralclassofnon-convexmixed-integernonlinearprogrammingproblemsappearinnumerousapplicationareas.TheprojectwillfocusontheAntibioticTimeMachineProblemfrombiology,whichaimstoreverseantibioticresistance,andMulti-layerThinFilmProblemfrommaterialscience,whichaimstoincreasethereflectanceofmetallicsubstratesusingcoating.
